CatPeople

Followers of my blog should know by now that I'm an avid fan of Joy Division and The Cure, and I'm always looking for bands influenced by them. As soon as I heard Pretty Things by Spaniards CatPeople I knew I've stricken a vein of gold. Taking up the legacy of Joy Division and The Chameleons, CatPeople's music navigates the turbulent waters of post-punk, where the crude energy and aggressiveness of punk unite with the poetic sensibility of new wave's darker ambience, creating soundscapes of extreme beauty. So, add CatPeople to a list including Interpol, Dragons, Editors, She Wants Revenge, Cut City, Mighty Six Ninety and The Transisters (more about them in a future post).

Two years after the release of their debut "Reel #1" (available via e-mail at: info@pupilorecods.com), CatPeople are readying their sophomore effort. Check out their new video "Sister" and visit them on Myspace.
