Analog Angel was born out of the 80’s analogue synthesizer revolution. Four young, impressionable lads from tough housing estates in the post-industrial city of Glasgow, decided to start a band under the monicker of Dr. Strangelove - no relation to Doktor Avalanche. Their sound flirted with a number of pioneers of synthesizer music and inspired a large local following and much interest from major labels in London. Unfortunately just as Dr. Strangelove were about to cross the line from local recognition to a greater and wider audience they split up and went their separate ways.
Until now, that is. In the last few months a grainy video, long lost in time, found it’s way onto YouTube. Unknown to any of the original members of the group, a friend had uploaded the video for "How Do You Do?" under the heading of Depeche Mode-esque, thus drawing attention from thousands of people who were requesting the song. Now that's some bizarre ;-)
With this new found interest Dr. Strangelove were destined to return. Featuring 3 out of 4 original members, the Glaswegians renamed themselves Analogue Angel and started working on new material last December. These first demos were enough to strike a deal with Rage in Eden records for an album release, probably sometime in June or July.
So if you are disappointed with Depeche Mode's new direction (like myself) and thirst for ye olde synthpop bliss, weep no more; Analog Angel will fill the gap that Mr. Gahan and Co. left behind. Visit them on MySpace to see for yourself.
