Kasabian are an alternative rock band consisting of Tom Meighan (vocals), Sergio Pizzorno (guitar, synths, vocals), Christopher Edwards (bass), Ian Matthews (drums) and touring guitarist Jason Mehler. They formed in 1999 in Leicester, England, and took their name from Linda Kasabian, the young pregnant getaway driver for the Tate murders committed by the Manson Family.
Kasabian have often been compared with the likes of Primal Scream, with whom they share an electronica-indie rock fusion, and The Stone Roses and Oasis, with whom they share confidence, swagger and rough vocal style. Both their first two albums (Kasabian, 2004 and Empire, 2006) enjoyed critical and commercial success in the UK, leading to big gigs and a NME Award as the Best Live Act for 2007.
Now, three years after their last studio outing, the lads are back with album No. 3 aka West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Featuring tracks like Vlad The Impaler, Fire and Fast Fuse, this Dan The Automator-produced record seems destined to top the UK charts once again.
