Kill Hannah

Kill Hannah was formed in 1995 in a dorm room at the Art Institute of Chicago by singer-songwriter Mat Devine. Named after Devine's ex-girlfriend, the band plays a sort of futuristic sounding electro-rock that will appeal to fans of Nine Inch Nails, Placebo, White Rose Movement, Shiny Toy Guns and Apoptygma Berzerk v.2.0.

Following a slew of self-released albums, singles and EPs and a couple of LPs on Atlantic Records, this week marks the return of Kill Hannah with their seventh studio album Wake Up The Sleepers. The new record is the band's most proud, personal achievement to date, and features vocal contributions from Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), Benji Madden (Good Charlotte), and the Chicago Childrens Choir.

According to Devine, they went into the studio with a mission: to carry on the legacy of their favorite bands (The Cure, Jane's Addiction, The Smiths, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, etc.) and make an album that carves its own niche, rather than adhering to any common genre. After a few listens I can guarantee that they succeeded. The guys are currently touring with She Wants Revenge, so that's an extra reason to visit their MySpace for tour dates.
