CatPeople is a post-punk band from Vigo, Spain, comprised of Adrian Perez (vocals), Raul Munoz (guitars, keyboards), Ivan Fernandez (bass), and Paco Iglesias (drums). Taking up the legacy of Joy Division and The Chameleons, their music navigates the turbulent waters of post-punk, where the crude energy and aggressiveness of punk unite with the poetic sensibility of new wave’s darker ambience to create soundscapes of extreme beauty.
The band released their debut album Reel No. 1 two years ago and now they are back with What’s The Time Mr Wolf? Managing to avoid the sophomore slump, CatPeople have made an album full of angular guitars, dark ambient synths, and violins that runs circles around its predecessor. Forget album fillers, all the tracks are potentially hit singles. If you are into Interpol, Editors, Bloc Party, or She Wants Revenge and cannot wait until their next release, do yourself a favour and give these Spaniards a listen.
