Diego

DiegoDiego is an indie / post-punk troupe from Karlsruhe, Germany. Formed in 2005, the noir-ish quintet of Andreas Mutter, Ralf Helfrich, Drazan Dodik, Uwe Schleicher, and Christian Fluri draw comparisons to brooding bands like Interpol, Editors, and Joy Division. Although their music arsenal is mostly based on slow-burning songs with atmospheric guitars, cinematic mood, baritone gothic drones, and haunting melodies, there are still plenty of hooks to give Diego’s tunes a dancefloor-friendly edge.

The band have just released a new record called Gold and it’s really well worth a listen – dark at times, yet quite catchy. If you found Interpol’s latest offering rather soporific, Diego’s album number three will certainly not send you to bed – at least not without company. Highly recommended.
