Flakes

Inspired by band such as Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Libertines, and Franz Ferdinand, Greek art-punks Flakes are the quintet of Yodashe (vocals), Jarvis (guitar), Stam (guitar), Velli (bass), and Nath4niel (drums). The band came together and recorded their first demo in 2006, followed by fiery live performances in Greece, Serbia, and the UK supporting bands such as Bloc Party, Primal Scream, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Foals, Nine Black Alps, and Puressence during 2007-2008.

Their debut album Lick Your Fingers, If You Like It is a mix of angular sonics with pop structures and was released last October. Filled with spiky guitars, motorik drumming, and screaming, bluesy, provocative vocal worlds that merge diverse influences into a hybridized alternative soundscape, this record proves that the Greek indie scene is alive and vibrant.
