Frank (Just Frank) (FJF) is a coldwave duo from the south of France. Composed and performed by Anthem and K.D., their music lies somewhere between the sound of late ’70s / early ’80s post-punk filtered through chilly guitar, prominent bass, nihilistic lyrics, dark drum machines, and icy minimal synths.
Taking cues from The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie & The Banshees, and The Smiths, the band released their debut album The Brutal Wave on New York City’s hip post-wave label Wierd Records, also home to the likes of Blacklist, Led Er Est, and Xeno & Oaklander. This record is a textbook example of the wave mentality and, despite being a summer release, it’s an ideal soundtrack for the gloomy Winter nights. Play loudly.
