Human Tetris

Human TetrisFormed in Moscow in late 2008, Human Tetris are the moody post-punk quartet of Arvid Kriger (vocals, guitar), Maxim Zaytsev (bass), Maxim Keller (guitar), and Sasha Kondyr (drums). Just like fellow Russians Manicure, Motorama, and PUBLICS, the band’s brand of dark indie rock draws on influences from bands such as Joy Division, The Sisters Of Mercy, The Chameleons, Interpol, and Editors.

Anchored in the emotional space of ’80s post-punk and New Wave, all of their releases share a gorgeously morose vibe centered on solemn vocals, brooding bass, and C86 guitar riffs, while the relentless percussion practically marches with a militaristic cadence and provides a fair few toe-tapping moments. With a full-length album underway, the future seems anything but gloomy for the young Moskovites. Keep an eye on them.
