HushPuppies is a French garage rock band formed in 2002 by Olivier Jourdan (vocals), Wilfried Jourdan (keyboards), Franck Pompidor (drums), Cyrille Sudreaud (guitar, backing vocals), and Guillaume Le Guen (bass). Raised with The Kinks, The Who, and The Small Faces, these mad Frenchmen are now grown-ups who enjoy all kinds of sounds, from the psychedelic atmospheres developed by Electrelane, Death In Vegas or Grandaddy, to the liberating power of Queens Of The Stone Age, Led Zeppelin or The Hives.
Their debut album The Trap (2005) sold over 20,000 copies and helped them top the French independent charts in 2006, with lead single You’re Gonna Say Yeah even making it to Guitar Hero World Tour. A marathon European tour followed, enabling HushPuppies to perfect their sound as is more than obvious in their sophomore effort Silence Is Golden (2007). Featuring melodic caresses with sonic uppercuts, spiky guitar stabs, and upbeat melodies, this record leads us to predict that the future of this very soon major band is undoubtedly radiant. Because, if silence is golden, the HushPuppies’ noise is even more precious.
