JOY/DISASTER

JOY/DISASTERFormed in Nancy, France, in 2005, JOY/DISASTER is the post-punk quartet of Nico (guitars, lead vocals), Julien (drums), Simon (guitars), and Fred (bass). Drawing influences and inspiration from big names like Joy Division, The Cure, Dead Kennedys, Placebo, and Editors, the band is a direct descendant of ’80s post-punk and Batcave. Their music is an amalgamation of dark indie and goth, i.e., sharp guitars, driving bass, baritone vocals, powerful percussion, and eerie electronics along the lines of She Wants Revenge and Interpol.

Although their brilliant third album St?yG?t?W (stage drunk in Russian) was released only last January, JOY/DISASTER are already working on a follow-up, scheduled for a Fall 2011 release. Judging by the demos streaming from their myspace page, there is no doubt that 2011 belongs to them.
