Julian Plenti is the side-project of Interpol‘s lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist Paul Banks. Although Banks has written and performed under the Plenti moniker for several years, his first official release is going to be an album called Julian Plenti Is… Skyscraper, due out on August 4th via Matador Records.
Featuring collaborations with Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino, Mike Stroud of Ratatat, and Charles Burst of The Occasion, this record mixes songs written over ten years ago with new material, backed up with strings, piano, spacey guitars, drum machines, and Morse code synths. It still sounds a lot like Interpol though, so if you can’t wait until Mr. Banks and Co. decide to release album number four, check out Julian Plenti and you won’t be disappointed.
