Kilians are an indie quintet from Dinslaken, Germany, comprised of Simon den Hartog (vocals), Dominic Lorberg (guitar), Arne Schult (guitar), Gordian Scholz (bass), and Michael Schürmann (drums). Taking their name from a character of Carl Zuckmayer’s play Der Hauptmann von Köpenick, the band recorded their first self-titled EP in 2005, followed by a couple of singles and a full-length album that reached number 75 of the official German music charts in 2007. Their sound is defined by driving rhythms, choppy guitar riffs, and catchy hooks that will appeal to fans of The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and Mando Diao. With a second album set for release later this year, the future looks bright for the young Germans. Keep an eye on them.
