Kordan is a Brooklyn-based music project led by Arthur Eisel. Influenced by the guitar drones of shoegazers Ride, Swervedriver, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, along with the propulsive, post-punk rhythms and synths of Joy Division, Arthur (vocals, guitar), Liz Reboyras (vocals, synth), Gabo Rodriguez (bass), and Jake Chudnow (drums) create lush textures, pulsating beats, and somber melodies.
In the summer of 2009 the band released their demo recordings as the Fantasy Nation EP, a record tinged by futuristic visions and Japanese street culture that were expanded in the trio’s first-full length album The Longing this year. Fusing shoegaze, electro, new wave, and post-punk, the upbeat yet gloomy songs talk about loneliness and alienation elements in a hazy metropolis circa the year 2036. However, you don’t have to be fans of Blade Runner in order to enjoy these dystopian soundscapes; just immerse yourself in Kordan’s epic journey and enjoy the ride.
