Led Er Est

Led Er EstHailing from Brooklyn, New York, Led Er Est is a cold wave / minimal synth band formed in early 2007 by Samuel Kklovenhoof (vocals, guitar, bass, synth) and Shawn NoEQ (drum programming, synths, sequencing). Drawing from the dire, aggressive textures of first-wave industrial music, the craftsmanship and ambience of cold wave and post-punk, and the primal kineticism of old school house and techno, the project was initially more of an outlet for song fragments and delirious baubles. As their sound took a more structured turn towards the end of 2007, Owen Stokes was recruited to add an additional synth to the minimal electronic arsenal.

Led Er Est strive towards that which is otherworldy and alien(ating), but also immediate and infectious. Their music paints dystopian soundscapes by blending the avant-garde of Cabaret Voltaire with the dark pop of Soft Cell and early Human League. Think of droning vocals, ice cold synths, minimal drum loops, melodic guitars, Vangelis, and Factory Records circa 1980 to get an idea.

An active part of the Wierd Records family as regular DJs at the weekly party, Led er Est have garnered a strong cult following in the experimental electronic, minimal synth, house, and disco scenes in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. Their debut LP Dust On Common was released by Wierd Records last November and its glacial pop songs immediately stroke a chord with fans of label mates Xeno & Oaklander and Automelodi. So, if you are wondering what the soundtrack to Blade Runner 2 might sound like would Ridley Scott ever produce it, this is your chance.
