Lowline are an indie rock band from Manchester. Formed in the spring of 2007, the four-piece of Robbie Rush (guitar, vocals, synth), Andy Hewitt (guitar, synth), Mike Hosker (bass), and Sam Clarke (drums, percussion) spent the rest of that year writing, locked away in a warehouse in Manchester’s less-than-glamorous Ancoats district.
Influenced by cult legends The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, and The Verve, they strike a rare balance between razor-sharp rock ‘n’ roll and epic shoegaze. Lowline’s intense guitar sound is underpinned by tribal house tinged drums and fuzzed up bass lines, as all combine to make something with energy, atmosphere, and spirit. Think of Kasabian-meets-Joy Division-meets-Primal Scream to get the picture. With three singles already under their belt, the 20-something Mancunians now embark upon a vigorous touring schedule throughout the next few months in support of their upcoming debut album. Don’t miss them.
