Manicure

ManicureManicure were formed in 2007 by Anya Zakharova (keyboard, vocals), and siblings Zhenia (vocals, guitars, keyboard) and Polina Novikova (guitars, bass, keyboard, vocals), before turning into a four-piece a year later with the addition of Zhora Kushnarenko (bass, guitars). Their gloomy music has garnered critical acclaim and already established them as one of the most loved and promising bands of the Russian independent scene.

With a couple of solid releases under their belt, the young Moskovites have managed to forge a brooding yet groovy sound that wears its ’80s post-punk influences on its sleeve, but is still uniquely their own. If you thirst for dirty synths, rumbling basslines, and rowdy rock ‘n’ roll riffs, or simply enjoy the aural company of Joy Division, Interpol, Editors, and the rest of the black clad ilk, Manicure is for you.
