Mirrors

MirrorsMirrors are a modern electropop four-piece from Brighton, UK. Rising from the ashes of Mumm-Ra, James New (lead vocals, synthesizers), Ally Young, James Arguile (synthesizers), and Josef Page (electronic drums) seem to have arrived straight from 1982. Their synth laden brand of pop-noir sounds like the bastard child of O.M.D. and Depeche Mode. Add some Kraftwerk, Blancmange, New Order and early Human League to the mix and you get the idea.

Yes, it’s very eighties, yes, its very cool, and yes, it’s very good – just ask all the lucky punters who saw them opening for 2010’s big buzz band Delphic last month. With a couple of singles already under their belt, Mirrors are currently working on their debut album, hopefully out at some point this year. So, if you like synthpop newcomers HURTS or wonder how White Lies would have sounded had they left their guitars at home and brought synths by the truckload instead, you’ll be in for a treat.
