Mount Sims is the stage name of Matthew Sims, a DJ, performance artist, producer, and musician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Starting Mount Sims as an electroclash act, later releases have also shown influences from post-punk, new wave, and darkwave, with Sims being almost exclusively responsible for every aspect of his music, providing vocals, instrumentation and production. The first act was supported by two dancers, whilst the last incarnation under the altered spelling Mt. Sims was a three piece band which includes Rand Twigg on bass and Andre Lange on drums.
Ultra Sex, his debut album, was released in 2002, followed by two more full-lengths that focused on themes from the darker side of human nature: obsession, isolation, horror, death, and madness were to become a staple in Sims’s lyrical arsenal, thus marking a definite a departure from purely electronic music to something darker, creepier, and more aggressive that will strike a chord with fans of Bauhaus, She Wants Revenge, Siouxsie & The Banshees, early Cocteau Twins, and ADULT. Moody basslines, cold synths, sinister snares, searing guitars, and bleak vocals are awaiting for those brave enough to give Mr. Sims a listen. Are you one of them?
