Combining Charleston and jazz with electro and breakbeats is no easy task, but Parov Stelar aka Marcus Fureder seems to have a sensibility about what it should sound like. He lives and works in Linz, Austria, but performs with his band – the Parov Stelar Band – and as a DJ worldwide, where his sample-heavy tunes borrow enough from modern beats and 1930s jazz, thus being appropriate for both the dancefloor or the easy chair.
Parov Stelar’s creative blends of old and new sounds have secured him a unique position in the world of music, with his tracks being used in numerous TV-ads and soundtracks, as well as licensed to more than 600 compilations. His uncommon approach to music production, combined with a proven sense of sound aesthetics, have given him reputation as the founder of a new genre: Electroswing.
