Romance is the Seattle based four-piece of Drew Jackson (vocals, guitar), Mike Ribagin (bass), Dave Baldwin (guitar), and Joshua Fant (drums). Influenced by Joy Division, The Chameleons, The Sisters Of Mercy, The Sound, and Echo & The Bunnymen, their music blends dark, catchy, and epic songs with an intelligent and unique ideology.
The band was formed in late 2005 and shortly after released their debut EP When Things Are Better which received heavy airplay from many indie radio stations, leading to fans voting them as one of the top four up-and-coming bands in Seattle. Their first full-length The Divide came out in 2009 and it quickly climbed to number one on the NorthWest music charts for KEXP, thanks to its solid production, driving drums, angular guitars, and baritone vocals that bring to mind Interpol‘s Paul Banks. So, if it’s edgy post-punk you are after, give Romance a listen and you won’t regret it.
