Roundstone is an indie rock quartet from London. Formed in 2006 as Babygrand, the band consists of Dominic Scott (vocals, guitar) who left Keane shortly before they hit the big time, Alistair Watson (keyboards), Andrew Morgan (bass), and Benjamin Salmon (drums). They were named after the Irish village in Connemara, County Galway because of their fondness of the west of Ireland.
DNA Unwinding, the band’s debut LP (2009), comprises an intoxicating mix of soaring vocals, haunting melodies, and furrowed-brow guitars that would make any fan of Editors, Radiohead, Muse, or Puressence stand up and take note, while some of the piano-based tracks whip up a hurricane of anthemic pop that the likes of Keane, The Killers, James, or Coldplay struggle to beat. With every listen this album keeps delivering the goods and has found a home deep under my skin. If you like intelligent guitar-based music, you should really treat yourself to this – did I mention that you can download it for free?
