Forged under the inspiration of post-punk and angular melodies, The Burning Hotels cut through modern rock with sharp guitars, New Wave synths, and propulsive rhythms. Hailing for Fort Worth, Texas, the quartet of Chance Morgan, Matt Moody, Marley Whistler, and Wyatt Adams made their recording debut in 2007 with a self-released EP titled Eighty Five Mirrors.
For Novels, their debut full-length LP that followed 3 years later, the Texans decided to expand upon their post-punk revival influences with electronic textures, danceable beats, and catchy hooks from the ’80s New Romantic movement. While not flawless, the final result places The Burning Hotels next to bands like Editors, White Lies, The Killers, or The Strokes, and leaves plenty of reasons to anticipate their next release.
