The Exploding Boy is a Swedish post-punk outfit formed by Johan Sjöblom (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Les Andersson (lead guitar) in January 2006. Sharing a similar taste in music (The Cure, The Chameleons, B-Movie, Magazine, My Bloody Valentine, Shed Seven), the duo discovered that their musical ideas, visions, and experiences were complementing each other perfectly and during the next two months they wrote and recorded ten songs in Lars’s home based studio.
In the following year the band recruited more members and finally released their self-titled debut, an album that featured a selection of dark yet melodic songs especially suited for the gloomy winter evenings, kind of Interpol meets The Cure with shades of Placebo and The Sisters Of Mercy. 2008 found the Swedes back in the studio working on their sophomore record Afterglow, which is due for release this summer. Spearheaded by hook-laden singles 40 Days and London, this album will undoubtedly keep the dance floor going.
