The Orders are an indie rock band from Helsinki made up of Lauri Koski (vocals, guitar), Heikki Karjalainen (guitar), Janne Nissilä (bass), and Joel Holopainen (drums). With influences ranging from Depeche Mode, Joy Division, and David Lynch to Franz Kafka, The Smiths, and The Cure, the Finnish four-piece writes songs full of dark and melancholic guitars, infectious melodies, and steady discobeats. This is dark disco-rock that can make you both dance to and cry.
The band started in 2003 as Dive and released two – now sold out – EPs: Confessions of the Night and Unfortunately Dead, both of which gained the band a cult following. After some line-up changes they renamed themselves The Orders and released their self-titled debut EP in June 2006, followed by the critically acclaimed album Guilt & Confusion a year later. Their sophomore effort is expected sometime this year, so fans of Interpol and Editors should watch this space.
