Bynar
Biography
Bynar is a DJ and producer with long-standing roots in indie rock, post-punk, goth, and electronic music. His work moves between introspective atmospheres and more energetic rhythms, shaped by an ongoing interest in dark tones and storytelling.
He grew up with the gothic textures of The Cure and The Sisters of Mercy, the synth-driven sound of Depeche Mode, and the electronic energy of the ’90s. Later influences like Interpol, Editors, and The Killers deepened his connection to the indie and post-punk revival of the 2000s, leading him into DJing, club nights, radio, and music writing. Since 2007, his Indie Disco podcast has aired nearly 200 episodes, featuring indie rock, post-punk, darkwave, shoegaze, and underground electronic music.
Earlier in his career, he also created mashups blending alternative, industrial, and electronic elements. These circulated widely online and contributed to his interest in reinterpreting existing material through darker and more atmospheric approaches.
In recent years, he has focused on original compositions. His albums Eldritch Dreams and Underneath the Void draw on H. P. Lovecraft’s themes and imagery, exploring them through a post-punk and indie rock lens. Together, they form a pair of concept records set in dreamlike and unsettling worlds.
Across DJ sets, radio work, writing, and production, a consistent thread in Bynar’s work is an interest in mood, narrative, and the ways music can act as a form of storytelling.
