Bynar
Biography
Bynar is a DJ, producer, and longtime explorer of indie rock, post-punk, goth, and electronic music. His work shifts between moody atmospheres and driving rhythms, drawing on a lifelong fascination with dark sounds and storytelling.
Shaped early by the gothic textures of The Cure and The Sisters of Mercy, the synth pulse of Depeche Mode, and later by the energy of the ‘90s rave scene, Bynar developed an ear for contrasts: shadow and light, introspection and release. Bands like Interpol, Editors, and The Killers deepened his connection to the indie rock revival of the 2000s, leading him into DJing, club nights, and eventually radio and music journalism. Since 2007, his Indie Disco podcast has aired nearly 200 episodes, highlighting underground gems and cult classics in post-punk, darkwave, shoegaze, and electronic music.
Alongside DJing, Bynar experimented with mashups that blended alternative, industrial, and electronic elements. These projects, streamed over a million times, gave him a reputation for reshaping familiar songs into darker, more cinematic forms.
Today, his focus has shifted to original work. His two most recent albums — Eldritch Dreams and Underneath the Void— reimagine the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft through post-punk and indie rock. Together, they form companion concept albums, charting journeys through dreamlike gardens, ruined cities, black pyramids, and the endless void.
Whether through DJ sets, radio shows, writing, or production, Bynar’s work is united by a fascination with atmosphere, emotion, and the unknown.
