Bynar Profile Photo

Biography

Bynar is a DJ and producer whose work moves between post-punk, goth, indie rock, and electronic music, with a long-standing interest in atmosphere, narrative, and dark tonal spaces. His musical background is shaped by artists such as The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, and Depeche Mode, alongside later influences from the post-punk revival of the 2000s, including Interpol and Editors. These influences inform both his DJ work and his approach to composition. Since 2007, he has hosted the Indie Disco podcast, a long-running series dedicated to indie rock, post-punk, darkwave, shoegaze, and underground electronic music.

Alongside DJing and radio work, Bynar has explored reinterpretation as a creative method, including earlier mashup projects that reworked alternative, industrial, and electronic material. This interest later shifted toward original compositions. His albums Eldritch Dreams and Underneath the Void draw on the themes and imagery of H. P. Lovecraft, translated into post-punk and indie rock forms. More recent singles adapt literary texts directly, treating songs as a space where music functions as a carrier for narrative and mood.
